Swim Into The Night By Phoenix Lindbergh
There have been mixed reactions about Eva Longoria's choice of wardrobe at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. A year later, people still talk about the ballet pink ruffled one-piece swimsuit and the Le Silla high heels she wore as an opening act to Mariah Carey's sultry performance of her then hit, Shake It Off. Was it really that hideous for it to be called 'an evening wear awards show fashion faux pas?' If you ask me, it wasn't all that bad; she had to wear something that night and the *Shay Todd* swim wear happened to strike her fancy at that time. She looked rather delicious actually, like you can eat her whole if you could. As 1/5 of the Desperate Housewives main characters roster, she's managed to pull off every piece of clothing in the show, from the skimpiest to the most elegant. Mowing the lawn in heels and a fish tail evening dress isn't exactly something you see in your neighborhood everyday. And these quintessential issues just makes some of us wonder how desperate she can be in real life.
I think people are just jealous that Longoria gets to be invited to these prestigious awards shows. And to add salt to injury, she also gets to wear free designer clothes all the time. So what if she dressed short of our expectations last year (no pun intended). She's a vibrant and talented woman; actors like her should be celebrated because of their accomplishments in the industry and not solely on what they've been wearing behind the cameras. She can wear a roll of yarn to my parties for all I care.
Bikinis are just very appealing to some that they'd wear them any chance they get. Longoria didn't hesitate at the VMA's and everyday women shouldn't either. Of course you always have to dress appropriately for a given occasion; you wouldn't exactly wear a two-piece bikini to church. Have you seen Paris Hilton in her Shay Todd number in that Carl's Jr commercial? Totally inappropriate, some would adamantly say, but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted some of that...burger. So if you decide to sport a tasteful bathing suit to a night out in the town, then by God, do it. You are the master of your wardrobe and if you feel confident enough to wear something as revealing as a swimsuit then who are we to stop you.
